One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves each day is just 15 minutes alone with God's Word. In the busyness of life, it is easy to fill our minds with news, social media, and endless distractions, yet our hearts long to hear the voice of the Good Shepherd. When we open the Bible, we are not simply reading an ancient book—we are entering into a conversation with the Lord who loves us. Even if a passage seems difficult or unfamiliar, God is still at work, planting seeds of faith that will bear fruit in His time. Those few minutes spent with Scripture each day can bring peace to anxious hearts, hope in difficult moments, and a deeper love for Jesus Christ.
As Catholics, we are also called to become familiar with the Word of God so that it becomes part of who we are. It is wonderful to be able to quote Scripture, but we should also know its "address"—the book, chapter, and verse where it is found. Knowing where a passage comes from helps us return to it in prayer, study it more deeply, and share it confidently with others. Whether it is John 3:16, Psalm 23, or Romans 8:28, learning the "address" of God's Word helps us treasure it in our hearts, just as the Blessed Virgin Mary treasured all that God was doing in her life. This week, make a simple commitment: spend at least 15 minutes each day with your Bible, ask the Holy Spirit to guide your reading, and allow the Lord to speak to you through His living Word.
