Finding True Rest In Jesus

In today’s Gospel (Matthew 11:25-30), Jesus extends one of the most comforting invitations in all of Scripture: "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest." In a world that constantly demands we do more, achieve more, and carry more, Christ offers us a radical alternative. He asks us to trade the heavy, suffocating chains of our own making—the anxieties of trying to control the future and the hidden guilt of our sins—for His yoke . This isn't an invitation to a life of passive laziness, but rather an invitation to a partnership. A yoke is designed for two; when we take up Christ’s yoke, we are no longer pulling the weight of life alone. We are tethered to the Creator of the universe, who adjusts the weight to our strengths and shoulders the heaviest part of the load Himself. Accepting this gift requires us to embrace what Jesus calls the way of the little ones—a spirit of humility and childlike surrender . We break the heavy chains of anxiet...

God's Perfect Design For Our Lives

In his spiritual classic, " Abandonment to Divine Providence ," Jean-Pierre de Caussade offers profound insights into a path of surrender and trust in God's will. Written originally for a community of nuns, this timeless work transcends its initial audience, providing guidance for anyone seeking a deeper connection with the divine. De Caussade's central message revolves around finding God in the present moment, embracing whatever comes our way as an expression of His loving providence. It's a call to let go of our own desires and plans, and instead, to find peace and purpose in the unfolding of God's perfect design for our lives. Father de Caussade provides practical advice for cultivating this attitude of abandonment . Firstly, he encourages the nuns, and by extension all of us, to embrace the "sacrament of the present moment." This means recognizing that every event, every task, every person we encounter, is a divinely appointed opportunity for...

It's Time To Own Your Belovedness

Music has an incredible power to move our souls and connect us to something greater than ourselves. When it's inspired by God and created for His worship, its impact can be even more profound. Sarah Kroger's song " Belovedness " is a perfect example of this. You may have seen Sarah as she led praise and worship sessions during the recent National Eucharistic Congress   celebration  in Indianapolis. Kroger's lyrics resonate deeply, highlighting our human tendency to focus on our flaws and insecurities. We often dwell on our failures, shame, and self-doubt , forgetting the truth of our identity as beloved children of God. The song reminds us that God sees us differently. He finds us beautiful, worthy of love, and cherished. This message is particularly important in today's world, where we are constantly bombarded with  negative messages  and unrealistic beauty standards. "Belovedness" offers a counter-narrative, reminding us of our inherent worth ...

Relativism Is A Hoax

Pope Francis has lamented that children are being taught at school that gender can be a choice, adding that his predecessor, Benedict XVI has labeled current times "the epoch of sin against God the Creator." Francis weighed in with his view on gender and what he said was that of the emeritus pontiff while meeting privately last week with bishops from Poland during his pilgrimage there. The Vatican released a transcript Tuesday of those closed-door remarks. The pope said he wanted to conclude his remarks by reflecting on this: "We are living a moment of annihilation of man as image of God." Francis said: "Today, in schools they are teaching this to children -- to children! -- that everyone can choose their gender." Without specifying, he blamed this on textbooks supplied by "persons and institutions who donate money." The pope blamed what he called "ideological colonizing" backed by "very influential countries" which he did...
